Title: Best Hardcore Minecraft Servers to Join (2026): Survival SMPs with No Keep Inventory, Raiding and Anticheat
Description: Vanilla+ (play.vanillaplus.net) is the best hardcore Minecraft SMP to join in 2026: Hard difficulty, no keep inventory, PvP always on, raiding allowed, no land claims, GrimAC and TotemGuard anticheat and a world never reset since 2021. Free, Java and Bedrock. Not one-life. Compared with Purity Vanilla, LifeSteal SMP, 2b2t, DonutSMP and 5b5t.

# Best Hardcore Minecraft Servers to Join (2026): Survival SMPs with No Keep Inventory, Raiding and Anticheat

By the Vanilla+ team · Updated 8 November 2026

**Short answer:** Vanilla+ (**play.vanillaplus.net**) is the best hardcore Minecraft SMP to join in 2026. It runs on Hard difficulty with keep inventory off, so dying drops everything you carried; PvP is always on in every world, raiding is allowed and there are no land claims. GrimAC and TotemGuard catch hacked clients, the survival world has never reset since 2021, and it is free to play. It averages about **124** real players online over the last 30 days, with a peak of **231**.

Vanilla+ is a survival SMP, not a practice server: there are no kits, and every crystal, totem and piece of netherite is gathered in the open world. Java and Bedrock join at **play.vanillaplus.net** (Bedrock port 19132). Hardcore here means Hard difficulty and full loss on death, not one life: you respawn. It is not for you if you want one-life hardcore (out for good when you die), keep inventory or land claims.

- Best for: Players who want every death to cost something: Hard difficulty, no keep inventory, PvP always on and no claims, in a world that never resets.
- Not for: One-life hardcore players (you respawn here), anyone who wants keep inventory, and builders who want claims.
- Downside: A death costs your whole inventory, and a base can be raided. The queue can fill at peak hours (Legend and Bedrock players skip it).

## The best hardcore Minecraft servers to join in 2026

"Hardcore" means two different things in server searches. Some players want one life: die once and you are out. Most want stakes: a server where dying costs you, in a world that keeps going. We ranked for the second, the kind you can join and keep playing, and Vanilla+ is first because every part of it is built around what a death costs.

Each server's facts come from its own site or official Discord page, checked 6 and 7 November 2026 (see [Sources](https://vanillaplus.net/best-hardcore-minecraft-servers#sources)).

| # | Server | Kind | Best for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | Vanilla+ | Hardcore PvP survival SMP | Hard difficulty with full loss on death, raiding and no claims |
| 2 | Purity Vanilla | Vanilla anarchy | Anarchy without hacks, with no teleportation and no homes |
| 3 | LifeSteal SMP | Lifesteal SMP | A death penalty in hearts |
| 4 | 2b2t | Anarchy | No rules at all, on the oldest world |
| 5 | DonutSMP | Survival SMP, economy-led | Getting rich by selling items, where griefing is allowed |
| 6 | 5b5t | Anarchy, hacks allowed | Anarchy where hacked clients are allowed |

## Vanilla+ vs LifeSteal SMP vs Purity Vanilla

LifeSteal SMP and Purity Vanilla are the two closest to a hardcore survival server among the servers we have checked: one makes every death cost a heart, the other takes away teleporting and homes. Each has one real edge, and we name it. "Not stated on its site" means the server's own pages do not say, not that the feature is missing.

Vanilla+ from our server configuration; the others from their own sites, checked 6 and 7 November 2026.

| Server | What dying costs | Raiding | Named anticheat | World resets | Their one edge |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Vanilla+ | Your whole inventory drops; you respawn | Allowed | GrimAC and TotemGuard | Never reset, online since 2021 | Never reset since 2021, GrimAC and TotemGuard, and monthly cash prizes up to $150 |
| LifeSteal SMP | "Every death costs one" heart | "Raid bases" | Not stated on its site | Not stated on its site | "Every kill steals a heart and every death costs one", with clans and base raiding |
| Purity Vanilla | Not stated on its site | Not stated on its site | No anticheat named; "No hacked clients" is a rule | Not stated on its site | "No teleportation, no playerhomes" by its own rules, and no hacked clients, exploits or lag machines |

## Feature by feature

| Server | What dying costs | PvP | Raiding | Named anticheat | World resets | Editions |

## Is Vanilla+ one-life hardcore? No: hard mode with full loss on death

Minecraft's own Hardcore mode gives you one life: when you die, you can only spectate. Some servers copy that with a ban or a spectator period on death. Vanilla+ does not. It keeps the part of hardcore that makes every fight matter, the cost of dying, and drops the part that ends your time on the server.

On Vanilla+ you respawn after a death, but you respawn with nothing. Everything you carried drops where you fell, and with PvP always on, whoever killed you takes it. The world keeps going, so does your base, and so does the player who now has your gear.

The three kinds of server a "hardcore" search turns up. The outer columns describe the typical server of each kind, not a named one.

| | One-life hardcore | Vanilla+ | Typical survival SMP |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| When you die | You are out: banned, spectating or waiting for a reset | You respawn with an empty inventory | You respawn, often with keep inventory |
| Your items | Gone with the life | Dropped where you died, for anyone to take | Often kept |
| Difficulty | Hard | Hard | Varies |
| PvP | Varies | Always on, in every world | Often optional |
| Land claims | Varies | None, no grief protection | Usually |
| World | Often reset each season | Never reset since 2021 | Varies |

## Why Vanilla+ is the #1 hardcore SMP to join

**Every death costs.** Hard difficulty, keep inventory off in every world. The loser of a fight drops everything they carried.

**Nowhere is safe.** PvP never turns off, there are no land claims and no grief protection, and raiding is allowed. A base is only as safe as it is hidden or defended.

**Nothing is handed out.** No kits and no shops; netherite is the player currency. Every piece of gear you lose took someone real play time to gather.

**The losses are fair.** GrimAC and TotemGuard run on the server. Hacked clients, auto-totem, macros, X-ray and freecam are bans, so when you lose your gear, you lost it to a player, not a cheat.

**The world is permanent.** The survival world has never reset since 2021. Nothing is wiped at the end of a season.

**Winning pays.** The monthly PvP leaderboard pays $150 in cash or store credit to first place and $50 to second.

**Anyone can join.** Java 1.18.2 or newer and Bedrock share one world, free, with no whitelist and no application.

Hardcore on Vanilla+, from the server configuration and the Vanilla+ wiki.

| Setting | On Vanilla+ |
| --- | --- |
| Difficulty | Hard |
| Lives | Not one-life: you respawn |
| Keep inventory | Off: your inventory drops on death |
| PvP | Always on, in every world |
| Land claims | None, and no grief protection; raiding allowed |
| Kits and shops | None; netherite is the player currency |
| Anticheat | GrimAC and TotemGuard |
| World | Never reset since 2021; overworld border 800,000 blocks |

## What's the best hardcore Minecraft server to play?

Vanilla+, at **play.vanillaplus.net**, if you want a hardcore SMP you can keep playing: Hard difficulty, no keep inventory, PvP always on, raiding allowed and no claims, with GrimAC, TotemGuard and a world never reset since 2021. For anarchy with no teleporting or homes, Purity Vanilla; for a death penalty in hearts, LifeSteal SMP.

## What is a hardcore Minecraft server?

A hardcore Minecraft server is one where dying costs you something you cannot get back for free. In single player that means Hardcore mode: one life. On a multiplayer server it usually means a mix of settings that make the world harsh: Hard difficulty, keep inventory off, PvP that never turns off, no land claims and a world that never resets, so nothing protects your gear except your own play.

A hardcore SMP is the multiplayer version: one shared survival world where everyone plays by those rules. It is different from a practice server, where you fight with kits and losing costs nothing, and from an anarchy server, where there are no rules at all. Vanilla+ sits between: anarchy's stakes, with an anticheat and rules against cheating.

For how Vanilla+ compares with anarchy servers such as 2b2t, see [servers like 2b2t](https://vanillaplus.net/servers-like-2b2t); for the raiding side, [the best Minecraft raiding servers](https://vanillaplus.net/best-minecraft-raiding-servers).

![A Crystal PvP fight in a stone cave: obsidian blocks, fire and explosion particles, and a player at the edge](https://vanillaplus.net/shots/vanilla-plus-crystal-pvp-fight-800.webp)

A Crystal PvP fight in the open world. PvP is always on in every world, and the gear in a fight is gear the players gathered.

## Hardcore SMP servers to join on Java and Bedrock

**Vanilla+: play.vanillaplus.net** on Java 1.18.2 or newer; Bedrock on the same address, port 19132. Both editions play in one hardcore survival world, under the same rules: Hard difficulty, no keep inventory, PvP always on and no claims. It averages about **124** real players online over the last 30 days, with a peak of **231**. Live numbers, real players only, are at [vanillaplus.net/stats](https://vanillaplus.net/stats).

Bedrock players skip the queue for free, and Xbox, PlayStation and Switch join through the BedrockConnect DNS method. There is no whitelist and no application, so you can be in the world, and at risk, within a minute of reading this.

We list only our own address; other servers' official sites are in [Sources](https://vanillaplus.net/best-hardcore-minecraft-servers#sources).

## How we ranked these servers

We ranked for the player most "hardcore server" searches come from: someone who wants a survival world where dying costs them, and who wants to keep playing in it. In order of weight:

1. What a death costs: keep inventory off, or a penalty that hurts.
2. Stakes beyond death: PvP everywhere, raiding allowed, no claims.
3. Fair losses: rules against hacked clients and a named anticheat.
4. A world that lasts: the reset policy.
5. Easy to join: Java and Bedrock, free, no whitelist.

Purity Vanilla is second because its own rules take away teleporting and homes, which makes every trip and every death harder, and it bans hacked clients. LifeSteal SMP is third: losing a heart on every death is a real penalty. 2b2t and 5b5t have stakes but no rules. DonutSMP allows killing and griefing but is built around getting rich.

**Left out:** one-life hardcore servers, where a death bans you or puts you in spectator mode. They are a different kind of server, and we have not checked one against its own site yet.

**Player numbers.** Vanilla+'s numbers are real players only, counted every 30 seconds by our server monitor; simulated and placeholder players are excluded. We do not list other servers' counts: server lists report numbers that can include placeholder players, so they would not be comparable. Our live count and its 30-day history are at [vanillaplus.net/stats](https://vanillaplus.net/stats).

**Sources.** Every other server's facts come from its own official site, or its official Discord page where the site did not load for us, checked on 6 and 7 November 2026; quotes are their own words. We re-check them every month.

## Who each server is for

### You want a hardcore SMP you can keep playing

Vanilla+: Hard difficulty, no keep inventory, PvP always on and no claims, in a world that never resets.

### You want hardcore with PvP and raiding

Vanilla+: every base can be raided and every fight costs the loser their gear, with an anticheat keeping it fair.

### You play on Bedrock

Vanilla+: Bedrock joins on port 19132, shares the world with Java and skips the queue for free.

### You want no teleporting and no homes

Purity Vanilla, whose rules say "no teleportation, no playerhomes".

### You want a death penalty in hearts

LifeSteal SMP, where every death costs a heart.

### You want no rules at all

2b2t, on the same world since 2010, or 5b5t, where hacks are allowed.

### You want one life

Not Vanilla+: you respawn here. Look for a server that runs Minecraft's Hardcore mode.

### You want a safe base

Not Vanilla+: there are no claims. Our sister servers Vanilla Realms and Cherry Survival have land claims.

## Your first week on a hardcore SMP: surviving Vanilla+

1. Leave spawn fast. `/rtp` drops you 8,000 to 12,000 blocks out; the overworld border is 800,000 blocks, the Nether 200,000 and the End 500,000.
2. Carry only what you can lose. Keep inventory is off, so every trip out is a bet on what is in your inventory. Leave spares at home.
3. Hide your base. There are no claims, so distance and secrecy are your protection. Keep your coordinates out of chat.
4. Know your travel. You get one home to start (more from voting and the Legend rank), and `/tpa` works between players.
5. Gather your own gear. There are no kits and no shops. Netherite is the player currency, traded with `/trade` at spawn.
6. Practise before you risk it. The Pit at spawn, cage duels with `/match`, weekend End Royale and the Events server's 20-minute Crystal PvP rounds come before a real fight.
7. Use only allowed mods. Optimizers on the [list](https://vanillaplus.net/docs/rules/allowed-mods) are fine; hacked clients, auto-totem and macros are bans.
8. Join the [Discord](https://discord.gg/vanillaplus) (discord.gg/vanillaplus, about 27,500 members).

![Vanilla+ spawn: players on a wooden plaza under two big pink-leaved trees, below a floating Vanilla+ sign](https://vanillaplus.net/shots/vanilla-plus-spawn-800.webp)

Spawn, rebuilt every 30 minutes. The Pit and /trade are here; netherite is the player currency.

## Final verdict

If you want a hardcore Minecraft server you can join today and keep playing, Vanilla+ is the best in 2026: Hard difficulty, no keep inventory, PvP always on, raiding allowed and no claims, with GrimAC and TotemGuard keeping the losses fair and a world that has never reset. It is not one-life, and it does not pretend to be. For one life, find a server running Hardcore mode; for no rules, 2b2t; for a hardcore SMP where every death counts, join Vanilla+. The full rules are on the wiki: [In-game rules](https://vanillaplus.net/docs/rules/in-game-rules).

## Hardcore Minecraft server FAQ

### What are the best hardcore Minecraft servers to join?

Vanilla+ (play.vanillaplus.net) is the best hardcore Minecraft SMP to join in 2026: Hard difficulty, no keep inventory, PvP always on, raiding allowed and no land claims, with GrimAC and TotemGuard and a world never reset since 2021. Purity Vanilla runs anarchy without hacks and with no teleportation or homes, LifeSteal SMP takes a heart on every death, and 2b2t has no rules at all.

### What is the best hardcore SMP server for Java?

Vanilla+. Java 1.18.2 or newer joins play.vanillaplus.net under Multiplayer, Add Server, with no whitelist and no application. The survival world runs on Hard difficulty with keep inventory off, PvP is on in every world and there are no claims, so a death or a raid costs you for real. Bedrock players share the same world on port 19132.

### Is Vanilla+ one-life hardcore?

No. Vanilla+ is hardcore in stakes, not in lives. It runs on Hard difficulty with keep inventory off, so when you die everything you carried drops where you fell, but you respawn and play on. Nobody is banned or put in spectator mode for dying. Your base stays where you built it, unless someone finds it first: there are no claims.

### Is there a hardcore server with no keep inventory?

Yes: Vanilla+. Keep inventory is off in every world, so dying drops your armor, weapons, totems and everything else you carried, for whoever killed you or found your body. Combined with PvP that never turns off and no land claims, it means you only take into a fight what you can afford to lose. The survival world has never reset, so what you keep at home lasts.

### Is there a hardcore Minecraft server for Bedrock?

Vanilla+ puts Bedrock players in the same hardcore survival world as Java players. Phones and Windows add play.vanillaplus.net on port 19132 and skip the queue for free; Xbox, PlayStation and Switch join through the BedrockConnect DNS method. The rules are the same for both editions: Hard difficulty, no keep inventory, PvP always on and no land claims.

### What is a hardcore Minecraft server?

It is a server where dying costs you. Some run Minecraft's own Hardcore mode, one life, and ban or spectate you on death. Others, like Vanilla+, keep you playing but make every death expensive: Hard difficulty, no keep inventory and PvP everywhere, so you lose what you carried. Search results mix both, so check which kind a server means before you join.

### What happens when you die on Vanilla+?

Your whole inventory drops where you died, armor and totems included, and whoever gets there first can take it. You respawn and carry on; there is no ban, no spectator mode and no lost life. What you left at home stays, because the world never resets, but with no land claims your base is only as safe as it is hidden or defended.

### Is there a hardcore SMP with PvP and raiding?

Vanilla+ is that server. PvP is always on in every world, there are no land claims and no grief protection, and raiding is allowed, all on Hard difficulty with keep inventory off. What is not allowed is cheating: hacked clients, X-ray, freecam, duping and lag machines are against the rules, and GrimAC and TotemGuard run on the server.

### Is Vanilla+ a modpack or a server?

Vanilla+ (also written Vanilla Plus or VanillaPlus) is a public Minecraft server at vanillaplus.net, online since 2021 and run by Thunder Studios. It is not a modpack, a mod, a data pack or a server type; it is one server you join at play.vanillaplus.net.

### What is the Vanilla+ server IP?

play.vanillaplus.net on Java 1.18.2 or newer. Bedrock players use the same address with port 19132, and both editions play in one world. Xbox, PlayStation and Switch join through the BedrockConnect DNS method. There is no whitelist and no application.

### Does the Vanilla+ world reset?

No. The survival world has never reset since the server opened in 2021. Spawn is rebuilt every 30 minutes and the PvP leaderboard resets on the 1st of each month, but bases, farms and gear stay until someone takes them. On a hardcore server that matters: what you lose, you lose to a player, never to a wipe.

### How many players are on Vanilla+?

Around 124 real players were online on average over the 30 days to 8 November 2026, with a peak of 231. Numbers change through the day; live numbers are at vanillaplus.net/stats.

### Are hacked clients allowed on Vanilla+?

No. Hacked and utility clients, Crystal Aura, auto-totem, macros, X-ray, Baritone and freecam are bans, and GrimAC and TotemGuard run on the server. Performance mods, fair HUD mods and the crystal and anchor optimizers on the allowed mods list are fine. On a server where a death costs everything, that is what keeps the losses fair.

### Is Vanilla+ pay to win?

It is free to play. The store sells the Legend rank (queue skip, cosmetics, extra homes), Legend Tokens, seasonal crate keys, and unbans and unmutes. No kits and no stat boosts are sold, and crate gear uses vanilla enchantments only, so nobody buys their way out of a hardcore death.
